Even the street signs in D.C. are getting spiffed up for spring. Still no signs of crocus or daffs here in Michigan, so maybe we need to take artist Mark Jenkins’ lead and springify our signage, in lieu of genuine foliage.

Jenkins has some pretty phenomenal “street” art - from whimsical to very serious and thought-provoking. Below are a couple snaps to give you an idea; I chose a few I thought captured both whimsical & thought-provoking (including an upside-down grocery cart with gym socks & sneakers in place of wheels; a giant cellophane/tape phone receiver attached to a broken-down pay phone, and a construction cone with “legs”). So, last night and today have been a tad bit on the unpredictable and busy side, as Rob’s little senior schnauzer, Jack, decided to have a few seizures and head to the emergency room for a stay (he’s still there now and is stabilized and hanging in there; he’s a trooper!). I’ve also been working on a new website for my mom and her colored pencil drawing portfolio. She has been an artist for, well, ever, and has recently developed quite a portfolio of drawings of animals, flowers and more. (OK, I’m so tempted to say that she’s recently been drawn to colored pencils… errr…) I’ve got a little placeholder up (pictured above) and am still working on the gallery pages; I’ll be sure to say something here when everything is up!
